about

The alternate version of "Through the Night" that almost made the record. By almost, we mean almost. There was a long, long debate and a final vote that went to the official solo acoustic version that exists on "The Vines of Age."

As for this alternate version, the reverberated backup vocals bring a new dimension of some vast haunted world where in which this song exists.

lyrics

Out of the evening I woke,
the end of the haze on my back.
The sun filtered in through the cracks,
the crumbling night echoed out.

And in the light, there you stood,
the wave of your hand pulled me forth,
And so it was then we began
on this way we’re set for.

My girl, she says, “things are ever changing.
Through wed until death, we’ll together walk through
the night.”

All of our trails that we make,
scattered as trails across the days.
Will we stay at each path,
or will we go our own way?

And so I stood scared in the light,
with my love there by my side,
and I can’t wait to begin,
I can’t wait to say,

“My dear,” I’ll say, “Things are ever changing.
Through wed until death, we’ll together walk through
the night.”
